Welcome!

Counselling is a deeply personal experience. A therapeutic relationship is built on a foundation of trust and trust is built over time as we gain knowledge and experience of another person.

With over 20 years of clinical experience working with youth, adults and families across mental health and substance use service programs, I have come to understand the power of therapeutic alliance - or the bond between therapist and client. I am highly focused on building relationships rooted in unconditional acceptance and compassion and strive to create an environment of safety and inclusivity so each client can explore their areas of concern and fully heal. I am skilled in helping heal the effects of chronic stress, complex trauma, mood, food and substance use issues. I often work with issues of attachment, parenting/separation and loss.

I hold a Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of British Columbia (2004) and I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (#09588) since 2009. My undergraduate studies include: a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Victoria (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Native Studies and Anthropology from Trent University (1996).

My approach integrates a variety of mind-body therapies informed by neuroscience and grounded in polyvagal theory. I offer clients a choice of tools and exercises designed to restore calm and experience increased connection and vitality. Working collaboratively, I support clients to gain psychological perspective, safely heal original wounds and toxic shame. Some of the therapeutic techniques I draw from include; somatic experiencing, focusing, emotionally focused therapy or tapping, narrative therapy, mindfulness, process work and cognitive behavioral therapy.

My passion supporting others is fueled by my extensive experience supporting individuals and families with mental health and substance use concerns and my personal healing journey spanning decades. My lifelong pursuit to heal the effects of chronic stress and adversity in my life have given me a genuine appreciation for the courage it takes to begin and sustain healing. If you are considering reaching out for support, I welcome you to contact me to arrange an appointment or a complimentary phone consultation. I welcome both new and returning clients.
